Samba came with living with the community and family. My first boyfriend’s family were associated with a samba school in the east of São Paulo. When I was 16 or 17, I joined them in a children’s wing and took samba lessons. Even though I was a rocker, I always had a connection with candomblé and umbanda terreiros, so the passion came from these experiences, samba until dawn and enjoying the energy that samba brings.
In Brazil, I spent months rehearsing with the Teatro Popular Solano Trindade in Embu das Artes, São Paulo. This experience focused on a community initiative that intensified my love of dance. The performance took place on November 20th, in honor of Black Awareness Day.
Dancing works like healing, it removes negative thoughts, releases endorphins, oxytocin, dopamine and serotonin. This is a great opportunity to bring joy and take care of your health. Take the opportunity to get to know new movements with Brazilian music and samba.

As a dancer and wardrobe/fashion designer (I worked with Maria Helena Souza – GNT), I collaborate with other artists and performers, offering organization and dance, specializing in Samba no pé. In Brazil, I participated in Teatro Popular Solano Trindade by Raquel Trindade for months in Embu das Artes – São Paulo, which inspired further dancing endeavors. Since moving to Minnesota, I have danced in events organized by Robert Everest, like Carnaval Brasileiro of the Twin Cities and Festa de São João. I also helped Karen Quiroz in an event called Samba Meu, which celebrated Brazilian culture, including music, dance, visual art, and cuisine.
